Hey hey!

So, i like films (why else would you be in the film pit, right?)
and i decided to add a page discussing them. I also have a letterboxd, but im going to have my more organised thoughts here

-- Scream 1996 --
One of my favourite things about this film is that you have to consider the time period of which it was released. It’s a response to the trashy tropey slashers which had flooded the genre- including the cliches then subverting to make them feel fresh. It also was released in an influx of feminism so the movie focusses on three well developed and interesting female characters. i might be generalising somewhat here, but I prefer how Scream presents its messaging too how a lot of films do it nowadays. I remember reading somewhere about how feminism fell off course as it developed through the 2000s -and while this CERTAINLY can’t be said for a lot of movies in the 90s- I find its messaging more progressive than stuff now. Scream is also just a fun time: it’s funny, compelling, the characters feel fleshed out and JUST campy enough, relationships are well done and the deaths feel earned! I personally found that its best watched at 2pm on a hot day with the curtains pulled and some chocolate
